Employees encouraged to join in CAA blood drive

3:10 p.m., Nov. 9, 2006--The University of Delaware will be going after its fifth consecutive Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) “Have a Heart” Blood Challenge title on Wednesday, Nov. 15.

To help UD continue this winning tradition, students, faculty and staff are encouraged to stop by the Multipurpose Rooms of the Trabant University Center from 7:30 a.m.-9 p.m., where Blood Bank of Delmarva (BBD) staffers will be processing potential donors and collecting units of blood.

"UD is going for its fifth straight CAA Blood Challenge title, and we would like our employees to participate in this year's drive,” Maxine Colm, vice president for administration, said. "We are encouraging managers to give their employees release time, when possible, so they can continue UD's winning tradition by donating blood at the Trabant University Center on Nov. 15."

The best way to help UD repeat as CAA Blood Challenge champion is advanced registration, which is available by calling 1-888-825-6638. Potential donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good general health and have had no tattoos or body piercings in the last 12 months.

For more information, visit [www.udel.edu/PR/UDaily/2007/oct/drive101806.html] or call BBD at (302) 737-8400 or toll-free at 1-888-825-6638.
