Downtown Newark gift certificates available online

2:42 p.m., Nov. 29, 2006--Downtown Newark gift certificates are now available online from the Downtown Newark Partnership (DNP) at [http://newark.de.us/downtown]. The gift certificates are accepted at more than 70 shops and restaurants in Newark.

Online purchases of the gift certificates can be made for $5, $10, $20 or $25 using Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express credit or debit cards. The site offers customers the option of sending the certificate directly to the intended recipient.

DNP administrator Maureen Feeney-Roser said that since its inception four years ago the gift certificate program has generated more than $40,000 and that the new online option makes the program more customer friendly.

Purchases can still be made in person at the downtown Newark parking office, 45 E. Main Street; Formal Affairs, 127 E. Main Street; Village Imports, 165 E. Main Street; and in the planning department in city hall, 220 Elkton Road.

In another effort to make downtown Newark more accessible online, DNP recently registered three new domain names:
[www.eatdowntownnewark.com], [www.shopdowntownnewark.com]
and [www.enjoydowntownnewark.com]. The new addresses route all Internet traffic directly to the DNP web site where customers can explore information about downtown businesses, learn about upcoming events or use DNP services.

For more information about DNP or the gift certificate program, call (302) 366-7030 or visit any of the web sites listed above.
