Exercise ball workshop offered Dec. 13

4:55 p.m., Nov. 28, 2006--Spaces are still available for “Have a Ball,” a UD Employee Wellness Center 50-minute lecture and demonstration introducing the use of physioballs for strength and balance training at noon, Wednesday, Dec. 13, in 104 Gore Hall.

The workshop will demonstrate the use of the balls as fitness tools.

Linda Smith, Employee Wellness Center program coordinator, said physioballs have long been used in physical therapy. "The balls require the user to maintain balance throughout an exercise. This allows the core muscles of the torso and lower back to work together so that strength is improved," she said. "We're finding that employees are increasingly interested in learning how to incorporate physioballs into their activity programs."

Home Grown, a restaurant on Main Street, has donated a $25 gift certificate as a door prize to be randomly drawn the day of the program.

Cost is 10 Wellness Dollars. To register or learn more, visit [www.udel.edu/wellness].
