Hen women’s lacrosse falls in CAA semifinals
Senior Katie Muth had three goals in the loss to James Madison.
8:43 a.m., May 7, 2007--The University of Delaware women's lacrosse team fell 15-13 to James Madison University in the semifinals of the Colonial Athletic Association tournament on Friday evening at Shuart Stadium on the campus of Hofstra University.

The Fightin' Blue Hens fell behind 13-5 early in the second half before mounting a late rally that came up just short. The Hens finished the season 11-6.

“We just ran out of time,” UD Head Coach Kim Ciarrocca said. “We are a young team and nerves played a factor in the first half. We had too many turnovers in the first half but we bounced back in the second period with aggressive defense. We can't judge our season on just one game. There has been so much improvement from the spring and we are excited for the future of the program.”

The Hens got three goals and two assists from freshman Nicole Flego, the CAA rookie of the year, and three goals each from freshman Courtney Aburn and senior Katie Muth. Freshman Emily Schaknowski had two goals and one assist and junior Casey McCrudden and freshman Amanda Jones had one goal each.

UD goalkeeper Jessica Cerveny had five saves.

Hofstra went on to win the CAA women's lacrosse championship, defeating James Madison 15-13.
