Robbery at Ivy Hall is being investigated

4 p.m., May 3, 2007--Newark Police are investigating a home invasion style robbery that occurred at 11:11 p.m., Wednesday, May 2, at the Ivy Hall Apartments in the 400 block of Wollaston Avenue.

Police said three men forced their way into an apartment occupied by three University of Delaware students. They held two of the three victims at gunpoint, while a third was in a rear bedroom unaware of the incident.

The suspects were armed with either handguns or sawed off shotguns and demanded money and property. The victims complied, turning over an undisclosed amount of money and property.

The suspects fled on foot in a northerly direction. A Delaware State Police canine unit responded and assisted in a search for the suspects, but the search was unsuccessful. No one was injured in the incident.

One suspect was described as being about 5 feet, 10 inches to 5 feet, 11 inches tall and about 175-180 pounds. He was wearing a dark colored hat, possibly a New York Yankees baseball cap, and a dark colored jacket or sweatshirt. He had a partial facemask of dark color.

The second suspect was described as being 5-11 to 6-1 and about 185-195 pounds. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants or dark jeans, and also had a partial facemask of dark color.

The third suspect was described as being 6-2 to 6-4 and about 215-230 pounds. He was wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt, and during the incident used the hood to conceal his identity. He wore dark colored pants and a brown or rust colored shirt under the sweatshirt, and white sneakers or shoes.
