8:14 a.m., May 23, 2007--Britt Murdoch has been named captain of the 2007-08 University of Delaware golf team.

Murdoch, a native of Bryn Mawr, Pa., competed in three tournaments for the Fightin' Blue Hens last season and will be the lone senior on next year's team. Murdoch averaged a mark of 82.00 in six rounds and his best finish came at the Scotty Duncan Memorial where he shot a 161 to finish 15th overall. He also shot his best round of the year, a 79, on the tournament's opening day.

While at Haverford High School, where he played for head coach Jim Kania, one of UD's all-time great players, Murdoch posted a four-year record of 61-2-3.

"Britt has played an instrumental part in pushing our players to become better,” UD Head Coach Mike Keogh said. “Even as a sophomore and this past year as a junior, he took the younger players under his wing. By displaying his dedication through hard practice and using his keen sense of humor, Britt made the whole team a much stronger unit. Assistant Coach Patrick Aylward and I both knew he had earned his place as the next captain of the Blue Hens."
