Concerto and Aria Contest concert set Sunday

4:33 p.m., May 11, 2007--UD's Department of Music will present its 2007 Concert and Aria Contest winners' concert at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 13, in the Puglisi Orchestra Hall of the Center for the Arts.

The concert, which will feature student soloists accompanied by UD's student orchestra, will be hosted by WVUD-FM radio's Michael Foster and conducted by Brian Stone, assistant professor of music. Ryan Tibbetts, student conductor, will open with Rossini's “Barber of Seville” overture.

The concert will feature several student musicians, including Anna Parks, violin, performing Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto; Hyun-Soo Kim, piano, performing Saint-Saens' Piano Concerto #2; Samuel Fuhrman performing Eric Bryce's Marimba/Vibraphone Concerto; and Xing Chen, pianist, performing Chopin's Andante Spianto and Grande Polonaise.

Admission is $12 for adults, $8 for senior citizens and $3 for students. Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance at the Trabant University Center or Bob Carpenter Center box offices.
