1:37 p.m., June 7, 2007--A workshop on “Sussex Communities: Growing Better,” sponsored by the University of Delaware's Coastal Communities Enhancement Initiative (CCEI), will be held Thursday morning, June 28, at UD's Ann V. and Elbert N. Carvel Research and Education Center in Georgetown.

"UD professionals will discuss the Coastal Communities Enhancement Initiative and get an overview of growth issues in Sussex communities," Bill McGowan a co-leader of the initiative, said.

Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Thomas Hylton, author of Save Our Lands, Save Our Towns, will kick off the workshop at 9 a.m. According to Hylton, "The best way to save our farms and forests is to rediscover our traditional cities and towns."

At 10 a.m. a panel of researchers and professional staff from UD, moderated by Bernard Dworsky, CCEI co-leader, will discuss the first year of the Coastal Communities Enhancement Initiative.

At 11 a.m., Chuck Donley of Donley Associates and UD professionals will make a presentation on "Growth Scenarios for Sussex Communities."

Registration and light refreshments will be available from 8-8:45 a.m., and lunch will be served.
