UD Police investigate attempted robbery

10:49 a.m., June 18, 2007--University of Delaware Police are investigating an attempted robbery that occurred about 12:02 a.m., Monday, June 18, near Academy Street and Lovett Avenue.

Police said a 26-year-old woman was walking on Academy near Lovett shortly after midnight when she was approached by a man who displayed a knife and demanded her purse. The man fled without obtaining any property when he saw a UD patrol vehicle approaching.

A search of the area by responding officers failed to locate the suspect, who was described as about 6 feet, 2 inches to 6 feet, 4 inches tall and of medium build. He was bald with a small scar over his left eye and was wearing a black T-shirt and denim shorts.
