Academy of Lifelong Learning lectures set June 18-22

11:23 a.m., June 5, 2007--Adults 50 and older are invited to enjoy the summer lecture series at UD's Academy of Lifelong Learning in Wilmington. Nine varied talks will be given from Monday-Friday mornings, June 18-22. Cost is $55 for the series and includes a musical program and luncheon on Friday, June 22.

Throughout the week, two lectures will be presented each day from 9:30 am-12:15 pm. On Friday there will be one lecture followed by concert and luncheon. All events will take place in Arsht Hall, 2700 Pennsylvania Ave., Wilmington.

Speakers will include Barbara Mayers, director of education for the Kalmar Nyckel Foundation; Lois Vanderkolk talking about “The Story of a Remarkable Woman;” Glen Barbaras speaking on "The Manhattan Project and the Use of the Bomb"; and Lou Angeli, filmmaker and cinematographer, speaking about “Answering the Call,” the firefighters' experience with 9/11.

Those interested in attending should register in person at the Academy of Lifelong Learning, 2700 Pennsylvania Ave., Wilmington.

The Academy of Lifelong Learning is a University of Delaware membership organization for adults 50 and older to exchange ideas, take classes, teach and travel in the company of other retirement age individuals. The academy is a learning cooperative whose members are its students, planners, instructors, committee members and facilitators.
