Major League Lacrosse drafts three Blue Hens
Jordan Hall was one of three Blue Hens selected in the Major League Lacrosse draft.
8:28 a.m., June 1, 2007--Three members of the University of Delaware men's lacrosse team that advanced to the NCAA Final Four were selected in the annual Major League Lacrosse College Draft held Thursday night at the State University of New York at Stony Brook.

All-America face-off specialist Alex Smith was selected by the Rochester Rattlers with the third pick and the Chicago Machine selected both All-America midfielder Jordan Hall and two-time first team All-Colonial Athletic Association midfielder Dan Deckelbaum. Hall was the first pick of the second round and the 11th selection overall while Deckelbaum was taken in the third round as the 28th selection overall.

Smith, of Timonium, Md., graduated from UD as the top face-off specialist in NCAA history. He established NCAA records for face-offs won in a season (311 in 2007) and career (1,027), face-offs attempted in a season (430 in 2007) and career (14,84) and ground balls in a career (553). He was the Colonial Athletic Association player of the year.

Hall, of Surrey, British Columbia, was a three-time All-CAA selection and the 2005 conference player of the year. This season, he had 26 goals, 12 assists and 54 ground balls. He scored at least one point in each of his final 31 career games and ended the season as the leading career scorer among all active NCAA Division I midfielders.

Deckelbaum, of Owings Mills, Md., earned All-CAA honors the last two seasons. He finished this season with 27 goals and eight assists.

Four former Blue Hens are on active rosters in the MLL, including midfielder and face-off specialist Jason Motta (Philadelphia Barrage), former United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association national college player of the year and perennial MLL All-Star John Grant (Rochester Rattlers), goalkeeper Chris Collins (Washington Bayhawks), who is a UD assistant coach, and attackman Matt Alrich (San Francisco Dragons).
