Pi Kappa Phi wins 7 national awards

3:22 p.m., June 12, 2007--Pi Kappa Phi, UD's fledgling leadership fraternity, was honored with seven awards for outstanding performance at the national fraternity's annual Pi Kapp College held from June 1-4 at North Carolina State University, in Raleigh, N.C. The national fraternity is celebrating its centennial anniversary.

UD's Theta Nu chapter of Pi Kappa Phi opened its doors in the fall of 2005 and received a gold rating from UD's Chapter Assessment Program for its first year.

Theta Nu received the national fraternity's Outstanding Scholarship Program Award for having the most exceptional program for academic achievement in the nation. It also received a national Champion Master Chapter award for the Philadelphia region given to chapters that are outstanding among peer organizations. Theta Nu is now eligible to receive the Fogarty Award, given by Pi Kappa Phi to the most outstanding chapter in the nation on a campus with eight to 17 North American Interfraternity Conference fraternities. It is the highest honor Pi Kappa Phi gives to collegiate chapters.

Theta Nu also won:

  • Added Value Award, for initiating five or more alumni during the past academic year;
  • Master Chapter in Recruitment Success;
  • Master Chapter in Academic Achievement;
  • Master Chapter in Sound Chapter Operations; and
  • Master Chapter in Living the Ritual.

Master Chapter awards are given to chapters that achieve Level III status in individual categories of the fraternity's seven objectives--recruitment success, superior associate member education, academic achievement, sound chapter operations, living the ritual, commitment to service and effective chapter alumni relations.
