Medical technology prof receives travel grant

3:05 p.m., June 11, 2007--Michelle Parent, assistant professor of medical technology, was awarded an Early Career Faculty Travel Grant from the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) to support attendance at the 14th annual ASM Conference for Undergraduate Educators at the University of Buffalo-State University of New York North Campus in May.

ASM offers the grants to increase participation of early career faculty, scientists and advanced graduate students interested in teaching careers. Parent is one of 12 recipients to be awarded the grant.

Parent, who joined UD faculty in January, is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and received a master's degree from the University of Rhode Island and a doctorate from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Her research interests are immunology and infectious disease.
