UD’s Buchholz named third team All-America
UD’s Alex Buchholz has been named third team All-America.
9:26 a.m., June 25, 2007--University of Delaware infielder Alex Buchholz has been named an NCAA Division I third team All-America by Ping Baseball, a web site devoted to college baseball.

Buchholz was the only Fightin' Blue Hens player named to the team and was one of eight players from the Colonial Athletic Association selected.

The sophomore shortstop batted a team-best .387 with 11 home runs, six triples, 27 doubles and 63 runs batted as the Hens went 32-23 overall and earned a share of first place in the CAA regular season. UD fell to Virginia Commonwealth University in the CAA tournament championship game.

Todd Frazier of Rutgers University was the Ping selection as first team shortstop while Ross Oeder of Wright State University and Andy Parrino of LeMoyne College were second team selections, and Buchholz and Michael Richard of Prairie View A&M University were third team picks. Mark Hallberg of Florida State University, Ryan Flaherty of Vanderbilt University, Sergio Mirando of Virginia Commonwealth and Michael Parker of George Washington University were named to the honorable mention team.
