President Roselle joins Blue Cross Blue Shield board

2:59 p.m., June 29, 2007--UD President David P. Roselle is joining the board of directors of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Delaware (BCBSD), along with William H. Willis Jr., president of Willis Chevrolet Inc. in Smyrna.

“We are honored to welcome Dr. Roselle and Mr. Willis to our board of directors,” Max S. Bell Jr., chairperson of the board, said. “They bring a wealth of experience and strong leadership skills.”

Tim Constantine, president and CEO of BCBSD, said, “I look forward to collaborating with Dr. Roselle and Mr. Willis as BCBSD develops and implements our strategic initiatives and expands our role in the community. Their combined business acumen and knowledge of the Delaware marketplace will be invaluable to our organization as we move forward.”

In making the announcement BCBSD cited Roselle for his “outstanding leadership, both within the college and throughout the state,” adding, “The University's accomplishments under his term include an impressive increase in freshman admission applications from 13,000 in 1990 to more than 23,000 in 2007, and a growth in the endowment fund from $381.4 million to about $1.4 billion between 1990 and 2006.”

President Roselle currently serves as a trustee of Winterthur Museum & Country Estate and of Christiana Care Health System and is a member of the board of directors of Wilmington Trust Co.; OCLC Inc., a nonprofit library cooperative; and VTLS Inc., a library software vendor. He also is active in the Public Policy Institute of the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce.
