5:16 p.m., June 1, 2007--Newark Police have arrested John W. Richmond Jr., 34, of Kenmar Drive, Newark, in the carjacking incident that occurred May 31 on New London Road, north of Newark.

The Criminal Investigations Division identified Richmond after receiving a tip from the public. He was arrested at the Newark Police Department and charged with first degree carjacking, first degree robbery and first degree assault.

Richmond was video arraigned in front of Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to the Howard Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $75,000 secured bond.
