UD librarian is president-elect of ALA division
M. Dina Giambi
1:45 p.m., June 7, 2007--M. Dina Giambi, assistant director for library technical services at the UD Library, has been elected vice-president and president-elect of the Association for Library Collections and Technical Services (ALCTS). A major division of the American Library Association, ALCTS was founded in 1957. Giambi will serve as president in 2008-09.

Giambi has been a member of ALCTS since 1989 and has served as chairperson of the group's leadership development committee, chairperson of the acquisitions section and was an at-large member of the board of directors. She received the ALCTS presidential citation in 2005.

The association, which has nearly 5,000 members from the United States and 42 countries, is the premier resource for information specialists in collection development, preservation and technical services. ALCTS is considered the leader in the development of principles, standards and best practices for selecting, acquiring, collecting, organizing, delivering and preserving information resources in all forms. The association provides forums for discussion, research and development and opportunities for learning in all of these areas.
