4 recruits to compete for UD women’s rowing 4:49 p.m., July 31, 2006--The University of Delaware women's rowing team has announced the signing of four high school recruits who compete for the Fightin' Blue Hens during the 2006-07 season. UD Head Coach Laura Slice said the four new recruits are Lindsay Ferzoco of Marion, Mass., Avery Griffin of Fayetteville, N.Y., Arielle Katz of Cherry Hill, N.J., and Ashley Pazdalski of Timonium, Md. The four join Jess Brooks of East Lyme, Conn., who committed to attend UD in January. "We are very excited to have these women joining our team this fall,” Slice, who has led UD to the Colonial Athletic Association team title twice in the last three years, said. “We look forward to their contributions to the novice and varsity squads." Ferzoco rowed for Tabor Academy, which reclaimed the Simsbury-Tabor Cup and had a strong finish in the New England Interscholastic Regatta, for two seasons. She has competed at the Head of the Charles Regatta. Ferzoco intends to major in business at Delaware. Griffin, a coxswain, has competed for the Syracuse Chargers and for Fayetteville-Manlius High School over the last three years. She led her team to the 2004 state championship in the second novice eights and was named the meet's most motivational coxswain. She has also competed in the Stotesbury Regatta and the Canadian Royal Henley. Katz attended Cherry Hill East High School and rowed one year for the South Jersey Rowing Club, helping her team to a successful finish at the North East Regional Regatta this past spring. She plans to major in biology. Pazdalski, also a coxswain, competed at Notre Dame High School and also was a member of the Baltimore Rowing Club for three years, helping her crews win numerous events. She intends to major in pre-veterinary science. |
