UD computer network expert featured in ad

Adarshpal Sethi, professor of computer and information sciences

1:35 p.m., July 7, 2006--Adarshpal Sethi, professor of computer and information sciences at UD, is featured in an ad on the back cover of the June edition of IEEE Communications magazine, a publication of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

The ad, for OPNET Technologies Inc., a networking software company, is an educator profile focusing on Sethi's research on computer networks and the association between UD and OPNET.

OPNET markets commercial software for computer network modeling and simulation. It provides the software free to universities. UD is a longtime user of OPNET's software for research and teaching.

Sethi said that UD was one of the first universities to use OPNET software, and he has begun designing a new course to be taught for the first time this fall, “Simulation of Computer Networks,” that will prominently feature OPNET software that “teaches simulation techniques to our undergraduate and graduate students.”

He said OPNET is planning a series of similar ads with faculty from other universities.
