Academy of Lifelong Learning open house Aug. 1

3:08 p.m., July 25, 2006--Adults 50 and older are invited to attend an open house at the University of Delaware Academy of Lifelong Learning from 9 a.m.-noon, Tuesday Aug. 1, at Arsht Hall, the academy's home, on the UD's Wilmington Campus at 2700 Pennsylvania Ave. Brief tours of the facilities, an opportunity to see classes in action and light refreshments will be offered.

The Academy of Lifelong Learning is a membership organization that provides opportunities for adults 50 and older to learn, teach and travel with their peers. The only requirements for admission are interest in a continuing educational experience, support of the programs through participation and a modest membership fee. Courses meet weekdays at Arsht Hall.

Beginning Sept. 5, more than 200 courses taught by academy members will be offered for the fall semester. Topics will include computers, current events, science, economics, history, literature, languages, music, and yoga. Special lectures, musical programs, study trips and social events also are planned by and for members.

Membership for both the fall and spring semester is $310, which covers up to five classes each semester and many activities. The Academy of Lifelong Learning will accept registrations for fall semester classes by mail through Friday, Aug. 4, and in-person registrations from 9 a.m.-noon weekdays from July 31-Aug. 4, at Arsht Hall.

Details about the Academy of Lifelong Learning and a schedule of fall courses are available online at [www.academy.udel.edu/index.shtml]. For more information, call (302) 573-4417.
