Hall Trail rape report unfounded, police say

4:57 p.m., Jan. 8, 2007--Newark Police have determined that the report of a rape of a 16-year-old female in the morning hours of Dec. 21 along the James F. Hall Trail in Newark was unfounded.

Following an investigation into the incident, which originally was reported on Dec. 22, police said it has been determined that the incident was falsely reported and did not, in fact, occur. A decision as to whether to charge the female is pending contact with the Attorney General's office.

The trail is located between Academy Street and Manuel Street in Newark.
