Telemedicine videoconference set Thursday

11:52 a.m., Jan. 31, 2007--An Internet2 virtual forum on telemedicine will be held from 9:30-11:30 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 1, in Studio C, on the third floor of Pearson Hall. The videoconference is open to the general public, but seating is limited.

Presentation topics include:

  • “FCC Rural Health Care Pilot Projects,” with Greg Palmer, MAGPI;
  • “Using Internet2 for International Medical Learning Exchange,” with James Gerraughty of CERMUSA (the Saint Francis University Center for Remote and Medically Under-Served Areas); and
  • “Simulation, Visualization and Immersive Telepresence for Medical Education: Can We Buld a Virtual Hospital for Students,” with Parvati Dev of Stanford University.

The forum, organized by MAGPI, is carried over the Internet2 network and hosted locally in University of Delaware media services videoconferencing studios.
