Shopping center heist investigated by police

11:21 a.m., Jan. 31, 2007--The report of an armed robbery at 6:56 p.m., Tuesday, at Audio Works in the Newark Shopping Center is being investigated by Newark Police.

Police said a suspect entered Audio Works and confronted an employee, showing a handgun and demanding money from the cash register. After an undisclosed amount was turned over, the suspect fled the rear of the business. The victim was uninjured.

Police said the suspect is a man about 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet tall and of medium build. He was wearing a black ski mask, black gloves, black pants and a black hooded sweatshirt with the word Southpole and the number 42 on the front.
