Grants.gov training offered for NIH proposals 11:37 a.m., Jan. 5, 2007--The Office of the Vice Provost for Research and Graduate Studies is offering hands-on training in preparation for upcoming electronic proposal submissions to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) through Grants.gov. NIH is among the federal agencies that now require research proposals to be submitted electronically through Grants.gov, which allows qualified researchers to seek out and apply for federal grant opportunities online at a common web site. Research administrators and faculty are invited to attend one of the training sessions, which will be held from 9 a.m.-noon, Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 17 and 18, in 140 Du Pont Hall. Attendees will be able to sit at a computer and download a Grants.gov application package specific to the research grant they are seeking. UD contract-and-grant administrators will be available to assist and answer questions. NIH-wide program solicitations, for what were previously termed “unsolicited” or "investigator-initiated" applications, such as project research grants (R01s), are now identified by the word “parent” in the funding opportunity announcement. NIH's parent announcement for R01s can be found at [http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/pa-files/PA-07-070.html]. Additional NIH funding opportunities with attached application packages can be found at both Grants.gov [www.grants.gov/applicants/search_opportunities.jsp] and at NIH [grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/index.html]. Space is limited for the training sessions. To register, e-mail [epothier@udel.edu] by Friday, Jan. 12, and indicate which session you plan to attend. |
