4-part training on UD Financials set Feb. 8 11:28 a.m., Jan. 19, 2007--By popular demand, the Office of the Vice Provost for Research and Graduate Studies is offering a four-part training session on UD Financials from 9 a.m.-4:15 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 8, in 119 and 120 Clayton Hall. These priority topics were identified from past workshop surveys and discussions with UD Financials users across campus. Understanding Facilities and Administration (F&A) 9-10:15 a.m., 119 Clayton Hall--Chris Cook, assistant provost for research, will present this session, which will explain the basics of F&A and how it relates to your rate, how it is processed at UD and why it is shown nightly in one table and monthly in another. How the F&A is adjusted when there is a problem will be demonstrated, and an overview will be provided of how the three-year cycle of rates work and what our institution's obligation is to adjust those rates when the cycle occurs. Case Studies for Interdisciplinary Work 10:30-11:45 a.m., 120 Clayton Hall--This session, featuring Cindy Panchisin, research office, Dave McCarren, Delaware Biotechnology Institute, and Robin Hexter, College of Marine and Earth Studies, will focus on pre- and post-awards for interdisciplinary work, including how the research office sets up an award with multiple projects and how an award is managed with multiple principal investigators from multiple departments. Who sees what project codes and how the information is shared when there is a need for collaboration also will be reviewed. Complimentary Lunch 11:45 a.m.-1:15 p.m., 101A Clayton Hall--Carolyn Thoroughgood, vice provost for research and graduate studies, will make a presentation during lunch. Cost-Share 1:30-2:45 p.m., 119 Clayton Hall--Trudy Riley and Susan Tkachick, research office, will discuss the different types of cost-share. Attendees will learn about tracking cost-share in a unit by using obligations, establishing a separate purpose code, using the labor allocation module (LAM), and using the project/userfield when processing transactions. Query (EZQs vs. GMQs) and Data Dictionary 3-4:15 p.m., 120 Clayton Hall--Amy Connell, General Accounting, and Vanessa Peoples, research office, will focus on the use of EZQs and GMQs and the different data they provide, as well as review the Data Dictionary.
