Talk on intelligent extraterrestrials set Jan. 5
4:32 p.m., Jan. 2, 2007--George Basalla, UD professor emeritus of history, will lecture on his recent book, Civilized Life in the Universe: Scientists on Intelligent Extraterrestrials from noon-1 p.m., Friday, Jan. 5, in the Class of 1941 Lecture Room in the Morris Library. Part of the University of Delaware Library Assembly of Professional Staff (UDLAPS) lecture series, Basalla's talk will focus on the widespread human impulse to search for and create a case for the existence of extraterrestrials. Basalla will touch on his own beliefs, the phenomenon of anthropomorphism and other factors that play a role in fueling the widespread belief in intelligent life beyond earth. The lecture is free and open to the public. Participants are encouraged to bring brown-bagged lunches. Light refreshments will be served. Photo by Sarah Simon |
