Computer energy conservation video available

3:53 p.m., Jan. 10, 2007--Almost everyone at UD uses a computer, and the cumulative cost of the electricity to run the typical desktop computer set up--a computer, a monitor and a printer--continues to rise.

Computer users can help reduce these energy costs by watching a new Information Technology-User Services' “Consulting on Demand” video, “Setting Your Computer to Save Electricity,” at [www.udel.edu/cod/energy/index.html].

The video explains how to configure your computer's energy settings using the 30-30-30 rule. These settings can help significantly decrease the amount of electricity consumed by computers, peripherals and related equipment on campus.

Computer users can use these same settings to help reduce computer energy costs at home.

To see the list of all “Consulting on Demand” videos, visit [www.udel.edu/cod/episodes.html].
