Blue & Gold Club events warm the season

3:02 p.m., Jan. 19, 2007--UD's Blue & Gold Club offers a variety of events and special dinners in January and February to brighten winter afternoons and evenings. The dinners feature themed menus.

Adults and children can enjoy the return of the Cookie Party from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 20. The club will bake the cookies for the children to decorate and eat.

Enjoy pre-performance meals at the club before Performing Arts Series performances at Mitchell Hall. At noon, Sunday, Jan. 21, enjoy a brunch before If You Give a Mouse a Cookie at 2 p.m. At 5 p.m., Friday, Jan. 26, enjoy a dinner before the Baltimore Consort performance at 8 p.m.

From 5-8 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 1, the club offers its Spa Cuisine Dinner. The menu includes tomato basil bisque, baby spinach salad with grapefruit, kiwi, grape tomatoes and citrus vinaigrette, and poached salmon in tomato, fennel and saffron broth. Cost is $28.95 for adults.

Enjoy more pre-performance meals at the club before plays at Hartshorn Theatre. At 5 p.m., on Friday, Feb. 2; Saturday, Feb. 3; Friday, Feb. 9; and Saturday, Feb. 10, attend a dinner before the play Savages, Christians and Other Homo Sapiens at 7:30 p.m.

At noon, Sunday, Feb. 4, enjoy a pre-performance dinner at the club before The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe performance at 2 p.m. in Mitchell Hall.

Also on Friday, Feb. 9, and Saturday, Feb. 10, enjoy the club's Chef's Tableside Dinners. The menu includes veal marsala and scallops with fettuccine alla vodka. Cost is $19.95 for adults.

Celebrate Valentine's Day with someone special at the club's Candlelight Valentine's Day Dinner on Wednesday, Feb. 14. Seatings will be at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The menu includes shrimp cocktail, brandied shrimp bisque, rack of lamb and honey balsamic cedar plank salmon. For those who wish to celebrate on the weekend, the club will offer Valentine's dinner specials on Friday, Feb. 16, and Saturday, Feb. 17.

At 5 p.m., Friday, Feb. 16, enjoy a dinner before the Philadanco performance at 8 p.m. in Mitchell Hall. At 5 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 17, attend a dinner before a recital by Lawrence Stromberg on the cello and Julie Nishimura on the piano at 8 p.m. in the Center for the Arts.

At 5 p.m., Friday, Feb. 23, enjoy dinner before the Master Chamber Series Concert, Live from the Lincoln Center, at 8 p.m. in Mitchell Hall.

Join the Mardi Gras tradition at the club's annual Mardi Gras Fat Tuesday Buffet from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 20.

This winter, the club offers half-priced nachos every Tuesday night in the Tavern. Every Friday and Saturday night, a bottle of wine is half off with the purchase of two entrees.
