Newark Police report two burglaries, arrests

2:40 p.m., Jan. 30, 2007--Newark Police have reported two recent burglaries, one of which resulted in the arrest of two juveniles.

Police responded to an activated alarm in the 300 block of Matthew Flocco Drive at 11:46 a.m., Friday, and discovered that someone had attempted to enter the house. Working in cooperation with New Castle County Police, officers were able to stop two suspects in the Robscott Manor development, a short distance from the scene of the crime.

Two juvenile males, one 16 and one 15, were arrested and charged with attempted burglary and criminal mischief by Newark Police and also face charges filed by county police. Both were released to their parents on unsecured bond.

Two days later, at 2:08 a.m., three men broke into a single family residence in the 200 block of West Park Place but fled when the resident, a Wilmington College student, placed a 911 call. Police said one suspect was described as being 5 feet, 11 inches tall and of average build. He was last seen wearing a baggy hooded sweatshirt and baggy dark-colored jeans.

Anyone with information on this incident should contact Newark Police Det. Rieger at (302) 366-7110, ext. 133, or call Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
