Performance appraisal process under way

4:57 p.m., Jan. 18, 2007--Annual performance appraisals for UD faculty and staff must be completed by April.

Faculty appraisals and workload planning

For faculty, completed appraisal and planning forms must be submitted to college deans by Tuesday, April 3. Deans must identify units that have not completed the process and provide an explanation for noncompliance to the Office of the Provost by Tuesday, April 10.

The faculty appraisal and planning form is available in several formats at [www.udel.edu/provost/eval.html].

Questions about the faculty appraisal process should be directed to department chairs for detailed information and departmental deadlines. (As the deadlines noted in the provost's memo are intended for deans and department chairs, faculty deadlines come sooner, to allow enough time for internal departmental evaluations.)

If faculty are using the online forms, John Courtright, director of the Office of Undergraduate Studies, is the appropriate contact. He can be reached by phone at (302) 831-0264, or by e-mail at [johnc@udel.edu].

Staff appraisals

For professional and salaried staff, all requisite forms must be submitted to the Office of Human Resources on or before Friday, April 27.

Professional and salaried staff appraisal forms are available in several formats at [www.udel.edu/EMPRELATION/appraisal.html].

Training sessions will be held in February to familiarize supervisors and employees with the performance evaluation process. To register for a workshop send e-mail to [EmployeeTraining@udel.edu] and include your name, title, department and the training session you would like to attend.

The first session is designed to enhance the evaluation skills of supervisors as well as provide an overview of the performance appraisal process. Supervisory workshops will be held from 8:30-10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 13, and from 1:30-3:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 16.

The second session acquaints employees with the major elements of the annual performance appraisal system. Participants will review the steps involved in identifying their major responsibilities and in completing the self-appraisal worksheet. Workshops are scheduled for 3-4 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 14, and from 9-10 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 15.

Questions about the staff appraisal process should be directed to Richie Holland, manager of human resources and affirmative action, by phone at (302) 831-2059, or by e-mail at [richieh@udel.edu].
