Head to the Hen Zone for the Zone Card

5:08 p.m., Feb. 7, 2007--The Hen Zone, the fun place to be on campus, just got better! Now students can get the Zone Card, have it stamped when participating in Hen Zone activities and have an opportunity to win prizes, including a Nintendo Wii.

It's easy! Beginning today, students can pick up the Zone Card at the Hen Zone, on the lower level of the Perkins Student Center, open every day from 2-11:45 p.m. Each time students participate in a special event, they can get their Zone Cards stamped. When their cards have four stamps, students can turn them in at the Hen Zone or the information desk in the Trabant University Center and be entered in a raffle for prizes.

“We want students to have fun, a sense of community, a place to socialize, take a study break and enjoy the Hen Zone. The Zone Card encourages them to participate and to take advantage of all that is happening and going on at the Hen Zone,” Alex Keen, program director, student centers, said.

Upcoming special Hen Zone events include Pizza Mondays, 7:30-9:30 p.m., where students can meet members from a different student organization each week; Billiards Club Tuesday, 6:30 p.m., where students can learn trick shots and sign up for future tournaments; Wii-NES-Day, 6-8 p.m., featuring competitions playing Ninetendo Wii; Grey's Anatomy Thursday, 8:45-10 p.m., where students watch the show, play Grey's Anatomy trivia and interactive games and win prizes; and Social Sundae Sunday, featuring free ice cream sundaes, from 7:30-10 p.m., Feb. 11, March 11, April 15 and May 13.

Other special events planned for the Hen Zone include an Oscar party, from 8 p.m.-midnight, Sunday, Feb. 25, and a search is on for the next great UD singer with Blue Hen Idol tryouts. Auditions will be held from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday, April 11 and 12, in the Bacchus Theatre, and finals will begin at 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 18, in Trabant University Center's Multipurpose Rooms.
