UD women’s basketball defeats Drexel, 64-36

Senior Tyresa Smith scored 18 points in the victory over Drexel.

8:34 a.m., Feb. 26, 2007--The University of Delaware women's basketball team defeated Drexel University 64-36 in a Colonial Athletic Association game played Sunday afternoon at the Bob Carpenter Center.

It was the final home game of the regular season for the Fightin' Blue Hens, who improved to 24-4 overall and 15-2 in the CAA. The Hens will complete the regular season with a game at Northeastern University at 7 p.m., Thursday, March 1.

They will then return home for the CAA championship tournament, to be played March 8-11 at the Bob Carpenter Center.

In the victory over Drexel, UD jumped out to a 40-18 halftime lead and was never challenged. The backcourt combined for 49 points, with senior Tyresa Smith scoring 18, junior Kyle DeHaven scoring 16 and senior Alena Koshansky scoring 15.

Smith, Koshansky and senior forward Chrissy Fisher were honored prior to the game. Fisher finished the game with six points and eight rebounds, and Jamie Mundy had eight rebounds.
