Delaware blanks Lehigh 7-0 in women’s tennis

UD’s Liz Perlow won in singles and doubles matches in the victory over Lehigh.

8:15 a.m., Feb. 19, 2007--The University of Delaware women's tennis team shut out host Lehigh University 7-0 in a match played in Bethlehem, Pa., on Saturday afternoon.

The Fightin' Blue Hens improved to 2-5 and snapped a five-match losing streak. UD will return to action on Saturday, March 3, with a match at George Washington University.

Against Lehigh, UD junior Susan Pollack defeated Gwen Dwyer 6-4, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, Amanda Campbell defeated Alexis Jacobi 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 and Liz Perlow edged Allie Schwartz 6-4, 4-6, 10-3 at No. 3. Elena Berry defeated Julie Arthofer 6-4, 6-1 at No. 4, Alex Dragonette posted a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Ruthie Furman at No. 5 and Brittany Barsky edged Vic Vityuk 6-0, 4-6, 10-8 at No. 6.

Pollack and Campbell defeated Dwyer and Schwartz 8-6 at No. 1 doubles, while Berry and Dragonette recorded a 9-7 victory over Jacobi and Cessa Murasko-Blank at No. 2. Perlow and Julie Schiller completed the doubles sweep for the Hens by posting an 8-4 win over Furman and Arthofer at No. 3.
