5:24 p.m., Feb. 7, 2007--UD's Department of Music presents Chen Zimbalista, Israeli virtuoso percussionist, at 8 p.m., Monday, Feb. 12, in the Gore Recital Hall of the Center for the Arts. Zimbalist's solo performance is a part of a three-day residency in New Castle County, supported by the International Council of Delaware.

Zimbalista has performed with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the Israel Chamber Orchestra, the Detroit Symphony, the Los Angeles Jewish Symphony and the Jupiter Symphony Chamber Players.

Winner of the Francois Shapira Prize, the Young Artists Performing Israeli Music Prize and the first prize from the National Council for Culture and Arts for performing his work, “Impulse 1,” Zimbalista's unique creativity has inspired composers Noam Sheriff, Menachem Weisberg, Benjamin Yosopov and Mark Hagerty to write pieces for him. Zimbalista has toured China, the United States, Canada, Brazil, Germany, Holland, Portugal, Italy, Africa, Turkey, England, France and Taiwan.
