UD men’s lacrosse team defeats Lehigh, 9-5

UD’s Adam Zuder-Havens scored four goals in the victory over Lehigh.

5:45 p.m., Feb. 21, 2007--The University of Delaware men's lacrosse team won a low scoring game against Lehigh University, defeating the Mountain Hawks 9-5 on Wednesday afternoon at Rullo Stadium.

The Fightin' Blue Hens took a 3-0 lead after the first quarter but Lehigh came back to within 3-2 at the half. The Mountain Hawks kept the contest close, trailing just 6-5 in the fourth quarter, before the Hens scored three straight to put the game away.

Senior attack Adam Zuder-Havens led the Hens with four goals. Sophomore attack Chris Hichborn had two goals and one assist, junior midfielder Vincent Giordano had one goal and one assist, senior midfielder Jordan Hall had one goal and senior midfielder Dan Deckelbaum had one assist. UD goalie Tommy Scherr had 11 saves.

With the victory, the Hens, ranked No. 15 in NCAA Division I by Nike/Inside Lacrosse, improved to 2-0. They will remain at home to face Manhattan College at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 24, at Rullo Stadium. It will be the opening game of the season for the Jaspers.
