NEH Internet2 videoconference set March 6

12:01 p.m., Feb. 20, 2007--The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) will conduct a grant workshop on its Digital Humanities Initiatives, from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 6. Members of the UD community may attend the Internet2-based videoconference in Studio C, Pearson Hall.

During the videoconference, Fred Winters, an NEH senior program officer, will describe several grant programs supporting projects that:

  • Use digital technologies to enhance understanding of a topic or issue;
  • Study the impact of digital technology on the humanities;
  • Explore the ways in which digital technology changes how individuals read, write, think and learn; and
  • Digitize important materials thereby increasing the public's ability to search and access humanities information.

Winters also encourages those who have partially developed project concepts to bring their ideas and their questions to the session. For complete details on the NEH videoconference, visit [www.magpi.net/programs/dhi.html].

Seating is limited to 25 persons, and registration is suggested and may be completed at [present.smith.udel.edu/calendar/detail.php?classid=1074].

The videoconference is sponsored by the Office of the Vice Provost for Research and Graduate Studies, the Office of the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, the Office of Information Technologies and MAGPI.
