Men's ice hockey defeats No. 5 Oklahoma in playoffs

3:13 p.m., Feb. 28, 2007--The No. 12-ranked University of Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens Ice Hockey team beat No. 5 University of Oklahoma 2-1 in the first round of the American Collegiate Hockey Association Men's Division I National Tournament in Youngstown, Ohio, on Wednesday morning, Feb. 28.

The Blue Hens scored first with 12:11 remaining in the first period on a goal by Mike Gardner, assisted by Lou Volpe and John Lankelis. Casey Giblin scored with 11:23 remaining in the second period with an assist by Andrew Bailey to put Delaware up for good at 2-1.

The Blue Hens face off again against No. 4 Rhode Island at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 1. The Fightin' Blue Hens finished the regular season strong, with a 5-1 win streak.
