Blue Hen Weekend: Hoop teams at The Bob

UD junior forward Herb Courtney will lead the Hens against James Madison on Saturday.

9:19 a.m., Feb. 2, 2007--The Bob Carpenter Center will be bathed in royal blue this weekend as University of Delaware fans show their colors for men's and women's basketball games.

The Fightin' Blue Hens men's team, which earlier in the week upset Hofstra University before falling at George Mason, will take on Colonial Athletic Association rival James Madison University at noon, Saturday. James Madison is 6-16 overall and 3-9 in the conference, while the Hens are 4-19 overall and 2-10 in the CAA.

CN8 television will air the game, which has been designated as Boy Scout Day. Fans are invited to bring a nonperishable food item to the game benefit Scouting for Food 2007.

The UD women's basketball team, which is among the elite teams in the CAA, will take the court at 1 p.m., Sunday, against Georgia State University. The Hens are 18-3 overall and 9-1 in the conference following an 82-51 victory at Virginia Commonwealth University on Thursday.

Georgia State is 13-8 overall and 5-5 in the CAA. Five Panthers average in double figures, led by senior guard Kelcey Roegiers-Jensen, who scores 17.6 points per game. Sophomore Marcquitta Head, a 6-3 center, averages 10.8 points and 8.4 rebounds per game.

Tickets to home basketball games can be purchased at the door the day of the game or in advance at the Bob Carpenter Center and Trabant Student Center box offices or by contacting TicketMaster at (302) 984-2000.
