Excellence in teaching, advising nominations due March 1 3:24 p.m., Feb. 16, 2007--The deadline for students, alumni and employees to nominate a faculty member or graduate student for UD's Excellence in Teaching and Advising Awards is Thursday, March 1. The awards identify, honor and encourage faculty excellence in teaching and undergraduate advisement at the University of Delaware. The teaching award is given to a full-time UD faculty member or a graduate student who has full responsibility for teaching a course or laboratory section. The nominee may teach either undergraduate, graduate students or both and must not have won the award in the past 10 years. Up to four awards for excellence in teaching by faculty and two awards for excellence in teaching by graduate students can be given. The faculty teaching award includes, $5,000, a portrait of the recipient in Morris Library for five years, and a brick inscribed with the recipient's name in Mentor's Circle. The graduate student teaching award is $1,500. The excellence in faculty undergraduate advising award includes $2,500 and a brick with the recipient's name in Mentor's Circle. Up to four awards may be given each year. The nomination process is quick, easy and online.
