Eating disorders awareness events slated Feb. 25-March 1

12:20 p.m., Feb. 22, 2007--UD will mark National Eating Disorders Awareness Week (NEDAW), Sunday-Thursday, Feb. 25-March 1, with campus-wide awareness programs focusing on body image and how to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

All weeklong, UD dining halls and food courts will be featuring tasty and healthy treats. At each event, participants will be eligible to win prizes including bus trips, fitness class passes and dining certificates.

At 8 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 1, celebrate body happiness and explore global and cultural beauty ideals through the ages at “Your Body is a Wonderland,” in Harrington D/E Lounge.

Paula Meronek from MTV's The Real World: Key West will discuss coping with an eating disorder at 7 p.m., Monday, Feb. 26, in the Multipurpose rooms of the Trabant University Center. This event is sponsored by UD's Student Centers Programming Advisory Board (SCPAB).

Meet with personal trainers, nutritionists and professional counselors at “3 Steps to a Healthy Lifetstyle” health fair from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 27, in the food court at the Trabant University Center. At 7 p.m. in the Trabant Theatre, Dr. Margo Waitz will speak on “ED and Fad Diets” at an event sponsored by UD's Nutrition and Dietetics Club (NTDT).

UD's Greek Council presents “Body Image with Dr. Jen Mayer and Dr. Gerard Hoefling” at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 28, in 120 Smith Hall.

UD's Interfraternity Council (IFC) presents “Helping Friends and Family with Dr. Mary Anne Lacour” at 6 p.m., Thursday, March 1, in Trabant Multipurpose Rooms A and B.

NEDAW is sponsored by UD Student Centers, Counseling Center and Wellspring in conjunction with Recreation Services, Dining Services, SCPAB, IFC, Residence Life, Greek Council and NTDT Club.
