7:47 a.m., Feb. 26, 2007--The University of Richmond baseball team swept the University of Delaware in a three-game series played Friday and Saturday in Virginia. The Spiders won 9-3 in the opener Friday afternoon, and took both ends of a doubleheader, 7-5 and 2-0, on Saturday.

Weather permitting, the Fightin' Blue Hens will play their home opener against St. Joseph's University at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 28, at Bob Hannah Stadium. They will then travel to the University of Virginia for a three-game series from Friday, March 2, through Sunday, March 4.

In the opening day loss, UD pitcher Chad Kerfoot took the loss after coming on in relief of starter Billy Harris. Second baseman Alex Buchholz and left fielder Bryan Hagerich had two hits each, and designated hitter Scott Shockley drove in a pair of runs.

On Saturday, UD pitcher Matt Heppner took the loss in the first game. First baseman Ryan Jablonski had three hits and Buchholz and third baseman Adam Tsakonas each drove in a pair of runs. Pitcher Todd Ozog was the loser in the second game, as the Hens managed just four hits, two each by Buchholz and Tsakonas.
