Women of Promise honored by UD

1:51 p.m., Dec. 14, 2006--Eighty-three UD students were selected Women of Promise by UD's Commission on the Status of Women at its annual dinner in November.

The Women of Promise dinner honors undergraduate students of exceptional promise. Tenured women faculty nominate students and accompany them to the dinner. The Women of Promise Dinner also fosters mentoring relationships between faculty and students, and increases the students' involvement in the intellectual life of the University.

The event originated 26 years ago as an opportunity for tenured women faculty to get to know students they feel have strong academic promise.

The dinner was hosted by the Office of the President with the Commission on the Status of Women and the Office of Women's Affairs.
