UD women’s basketball receives votes in polls

UD’s Tyresa Smith is the CAA player of the week.

9:38 a.m., Dec. 13, 2006--The University of Delaware women's basketball team continues to receive votes in NCAA Division I national top 25 polls, earning nine in this week's Associated Press poll and five in the USA Today/ESPN poll.

The Fightin' Blue Hens are 8-1 following Sunday's victory over Boston University, and are preparing for a pair of games against Atlantic 10 Conference foes. UD will play at the University of Massachusetts at 2 p.m., Sunday, before returning home for their final game before the holidays, taking on Fordham University at 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 22, at the Bob Carpenter Center. Massachusetts is 8-2 and Fordham is 2-7.

In news from the Colonial Athletic Association, UD senior guard Tyresa Smith has been named the conference player of the week for the third time this season. Smith had a combined 43 points, 23 rebounds and four steals in victories over LaSalle University and Boston.
