Delaware volleyball team defeats Temple, 3-0 9 a.m., Aug. 30, 2006--The University of Delaware volleyball team remained undefeated with a 3-0 victory over Temple University on Tuesday night at Barbara Viera Court in the Carpenter Sports Building. The 4-0 Fightin' Blue Hens won 30-26, 30-23 and 30-27, and were led by sophomore Kelly Gibson and freshman Kelly Mathias, who had 12 kills each. UD junior Megan Welch had 36 assists to go along with three service aces while Gibson led the team defensively with 16 digs. Junior Colleen Walsh had eight kills and Matthias added six blocks. The Hens will return to action when they travel to compete in a weekend tournament at the University of Wisconsin Green Bay. They will face Kent State University on Friday, Sept. 1, and Drake University and host Wisconsin Green Bay on Saturday, Sept. 2. |
