New UDSIS ready for fall arrivals
1:33 p.m., Aug. 10, 2006--New, returning and transfer students will find a new online student information system, UDSIS, in place for the fall semester. “During a transition period lasting until mid-September, students may notice UDSIS has a few links to the old system, (SIS+), including registration and drop/add. Once free drop/add is over on Sept. 12, students will be using UDSIS exclusively,” Ellen Lepine, leader of the UDSIS Communication and Training Team, said. An e-mail recently was sent to students informing them about the important changes that have been made to the University's student information system. UDSIS, which replaces the 15-year-old SIS+ system, is operational for undergraduate and graduate admissions, cashiering, student billing, student records and financial aid. The Office of the Registrar, Student Account Services, Admissions, Graduates Studies Office, Professional and Continuing Studies and Financial Aid Office, along with the Information Technologies group, installed the system with the assistance of CedarCrestone, a software-development consulting firm headquartered in Atlanta. UDSIS is a web-based system that links users to access their individual information from anywhere in the world. By clicking on the UDSIS or SIS+ link at the top of the UD homepage [www.udel.edu], users will be taken to a sign-in page where they can enter their UDelNet ID and password. Fall and spring class registration booklets are no longer being printed and distributed on campus. Instead, an online version of the registration booklet is accessible from the Office of the Registrar's web page at [www.udel.edu/registrar]. “This user-friendly system is easy to understand and allows students to find all of their UD information in a place that is easy to locate,” Lepine said.
Returning students who do not know their UDelNet IDs and passwords should go to [www.udel.edu/network] for more information Information about fall schedules is available on the new site through a “My Class Schedule” link that will appear when users log in to UDSIS. By clicking this link, students can see which courses they are registered for and can make changes via a Drop/Add link beginning Monday, Aug. 14, or after, depending on their classification. Students should be sure to consult with their academic advisers before making schedule changes, and all freshmen enrolled in a Freshman Year Experience course are cautioned against making any changes to this course, as it will affect progress toward graduation. Academic Progress Reports showing how a student's coursework fulfills degree requirements may not be available or up-to-date for certain majors until the new UDSIS system is fully implemented later in the academic year. For assistance, students may call (302) 831-2131, where the UDSIS support team will work quickly to answer questions about using the new system. Important updates and reminders about continuing UDSIS upgrades and implementations are available at [www.udel.edu/UDSIS-info].
