Free skating, hockey clinics set Aug. 29

1:53 p.m., Aug. 25, 2006--A free, public clinic on basic figure skating and ice hockey maneuvers is set for 7-8 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 29, at the University of Delaware's Fred Rust Ice Arena.

Geared for youngsters interested in ice sports, both the “Learn-to-Skate” and “Learn-to-Play-Hockey” clinics will include demonstrations by instructors and on-ice tryouts for participants.

Hockey sticks, helmets, gloves and skates will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis, and skating instructors will be available to answer questions from parents.

Both clinics begin promptly at 7 p.m., so an early arrival is recommended.

Fall “Learn-to-Skate” and “Learn-to-Play-Hockey” classes begin in September at the arena. Registrations for the classes will be accepted during the free clinics.

For more information on the skating clinic, call (302) 831-6051. For more information on the hockey clinic, call (302) 831-1350. For more information on the University's Ice Arenas, visit [www.udel.edu/icearena]
