Use SIS+ for late registration, drop/add
1:52 p.m., Aug. 10, 2006--Employees who wish to use late registration and drop/add functions for fall 2006 courses will continue to use the present SIS+, from Aug. 14-Sept. 12, while UD continues to implement its new UDSIS student record system. Employee access to SIS+ will be reinstated during this period, while registration and drop/add will be fully supported in UDSIS beginning Sept. 13. During the next six weeks, the campus will have two sources of student record information, including SIS+ for registration information, and UDSIS for all other student data. “Many have been asking about the registration and drop/add period beginning on Aug. 14 and what system will be used,” Ellen Lepine, leader of the UDSIS Communication and Training Team, said. “The decision has been made to use SIS+ (MVS) and not to move forward with registration and drop/add in the new system until after the Sept. 12 deadline to add courses. We believe this is the best option at this juncture because it provides a familiar environment for students who, for the most part, will not be on campus. Likewise, faculty, advisers and staff who assist students with registration and drop/add will do so in a well-known system,” she said. Students will access their records by clicking on the UDSIS or SIS+ link at the top of the UD homepage [www.udel.edu] and will be taken to a sign-in page where they can enter their UDelNet ID and password. Information about fall schedules will be available on the new site through a “My Class Schedule” link that will appear when users log in to UDSIS. By clicking this link, students can see which courses they are registered for and can make changes via a Drop/Add link beginning on Monday, Aug. 14, or after, depending on their classification.
The Office of the Registrar, Student Account Services, Admissions, Graduates Studies Office, Professional and Continuing Studies and Financial Aid Office, along with the Information Technologies group, installed the system with the assistance of CedarCrestone, a software-development consulting firm headquartered in Atlanta. “We are currently in the process of migrating enrollment history from old system to new,” Lepine said. “This process has been completed for the most recent semesters and will continue until all of the academic records dating back to 1971 are moved forward. We expect this process to be completed by the start of the fall semester.” Besides enrollment history, UD will migrate all other elements of the academic record necessary to produce a complete and accurate official UD transcript in the new UDSIS system, she said.
