UD hotel adds complimentary guest shuttle

Edgar Tipia, customer service manager at the Courtyard Newark, with the Spina family, freshman Lindsey and her parents, Pete and Chris.

10:45 a.m., Aug. 30, 2006--Guests of The Courtyard Newark-University of Delaware hotel can now travel from their rooms to Main Street, other campus locations, local business destinations and even the Amtrak Station in Wilmington for free.

The hotel has added a complimentary shuttle for registered guests traveling within 10 miles of the hotel.

Bill Sullivan, hotel managing director, said the hotel is responding to the needs of its guests. “We have had enough requests for local transportation to merit the new service. It's consistent with our goal of continually improving our service,” he said.

The shuttle will be available for guests from 7 a.m.-2 p.m. and 4-8 p.m., Monday-Friday, and only on weekends for special occasions. Service during the rest of the business day will be by request.

Its route includes the Newark campus and an area within a 10-mile radius of the hotel, including the Newark SEPTA train station. If needed, the shuttle can make runs to the Amtrak station in Wilmington.

A second van will be used for larger groups and during peak periods of the day, Sullivan said.

Guests must make reservations for the shuttle 24 hours in advance at the front desk. The hotel phone number is (302) 737-0900.
