Newark Police investigate attempted robbery

1:29 p.m., Aug. 24, 2006--Newark Police are investigating an attempted robbery that occurred at 3 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 24, at Marrows and White Chapel roads in Newark.

A 19-year-old man was walking on Marrows Road when he was approached by two suspects. One of them asked him what he had on him and grabbed at the victim's pants pockets. The victim began to fight with both of the suspects when another suspect approached and pistol-whipped him. The three suspects fled the area on foot northbound on Marrows Road. The victim sustained a laceration above his right eye but refused medical treatment.

Two of the suspects are 17-19 years old, around 5 feet 8 inches tall, one with an average build and the other with a small build. The third suspect is 28-30 years old, 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall, with a thin build.
