Newark Police seek suspects in robberies 2:37 p.m., Aug. 28, 2006--Newark Police are investigation the armed robbery of two University of Delaware students that occurred at 11:41 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 27, at New London Road and Corbitt Street. Police said the two UD students, a 21-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman, were talking when they were approached by two men who exited a dark colored, four-door vehicle, possibly an Acura model from the early to mid-1990s. Armed with a small baseball bat or club, the suspects demanded property. The victims complied and the suspects then got back in the vehicle and sped off at a high rate of speed. No one was injured in the incident. Police said the suspect carrying the club was about 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall and about 160-170 pounds, and was wearing a white shirt, a red do-rag on his head and a black one to mask his face. The second suspect was 5-10 to 6 feet tall, 220-240 pounds and had short black hair. He was wearing a black shirt and masked his face with a black do-rag. Both suspects are believed to be in their early 20s. In another incident, Newark Police are searching for two suspects in the robbery of a young clerk at a produce stand at the Park and Shop shopping center that occurred at 4:50 p.m., Sunday. Police said one suspect distracted the clerk by asking questions while the second grabbed the cash box and started to walk away. When confronted, the suspect punched the clerk and both suspects ran across the parking lot to Apple Road and fled in a black sports utility vehicle. Both suspects are in their early 20s. One was 5-6 to 5-8 and wore a black short-sleeved shirt and had military-style dog tags around his neck. The other was 6-2 and wore black pants and a dark colored shirt.
